Come along to Women in Workshop at the Makery (Todmorden’s Community Workshop project).
At these sessions you will have access to the tools and materials available in the workshop. Wood, Textiles and DiY etc.
What happens? It’s an informal learning space. Women come to work on their projects or to ask for help with specific ideas. Sometimes there are demonstrations of specific skills.  If you have questions feel free to get in touch on todmordenmakery@gmail.com

Elaine and Christine ran a fantastic workshop on making decorative repairs. You can come into a Wednesday or Friday drop in in the days if you want to try to get help doing the same.

Ben Duxbury ran this workshop which managed to fit in making stools into a very short timeframe by carefully planning the workshop to allow different pairs of participants to make one piece each which slotted together at the end.

We invite you to the Makery community workshop to use some of our equipment  and materials at these workshops. These Events are kindly supported by Todmorden Town Council.

A recent free workshop led by Matt Davies on screen printing looked great. Let’s hope, it can be the start of on-going work on Screen Printing in the Makery. Screen Printing is a perfect project which could bring together all the different areas of the Makery and suitable for all ages.

Are you interested in: Technology and textiles, games, robots, buggies and other fun creative projects.
If so come along! All Ages Welcome. Free Event

This Month - Make something fabulous with textiles and technology. This could be something wearable or woven. It may flash, make sounds, spin or do something really useful.

If you would like to book onto this workshop please do come down to the Makery workshop to sign up. The sign up form is by the entrance. Or just ask a volunteer to help.

This Rag Rug workshop is one of our ReCover and ReMake sessions. In these session we use recycled or reusable materials to make something artistic and/or useful. They are also aimed to be relaxing and social too. It’s a good way to find out what is happening at the Makery and you’ll be invited to join as a member and come back to drop in sessions to keep going with your projects if you want to.

It was great to host Jonathan Atkinson from Carbon Coop / People Powered Retrofit on Saturday 14th of May. There was a fully booked and packed room at Tod College and some great feedback from those that came.

Get to grips with DSLR settings

This ongoing occasional club is for people who have a DSLR and have had some experience using their camera perhaps only in automatic mode. It’s an ideal next step for those who what to play with more manual settings on their cameras. Members can join at any time, as each class session can stand on its own. The host of this workshop is Chris Foster a local professional Photographer.

Friendly, informal, informative, student-centred, fun. Tutor responded to queries as they arose in a mixed ability class. We covered a lot of ground in 4 weeks.

Student Feedback

Wordpress is an online system to allow you to create websites. It is flexible and relatively easy to learn. If you get more technically skilled you can alter it one a more flexible level. It’s also easy to move your websites from one place to another. All of these reasons make it a good choice if you want to learn to make your own website or blog.

Using a pre-cut lino block to create a wall border with block printing inks. A couple of these workshops have been run already and we’re hoping to do more in the new year.

We are running a ‘Beginner’s guide to using power tools’ next Wednesday 24th November between 11.30am and 3.30pm in the Makery at Tod College (a Saturday event will also be announced shortly). This is for beginners looking to gain confidence in using the Library’s tools such as circular saws, jigsaws, drills, nailers and sanders. The workshop will be hands-on and during the session we will make a Little Library for the town.

It’s now a drop in.

Thanks to the fantastic bike volunteers John, Will, Martin and Simon we can now offer weekly sessions - and the best bit is that you can just turn up.

These sessions are also informal workshops where you can ask about how to maintain your bike - it’s a great source of information.

However, if you are not sure if we’ll be able to help then it’s a good idea to email us to tell us what up with your bike and even send us snaps. You can do that on the following email - makery-bikes@ googlegroup.com

Starts on 6th July - 3.30 - 5.00pm at Todmorden College Makery Workshop (just ask for the Makery at the reception of Tod College) then 13th & 20th of July  3.30 - 5.00 too

Fixing is magic. You can breathe new life into the things you love. You can build your skills up starting with simple fixes.

In our first FREE family fixing clubs we will stitch some feathers for the Phoenix and create some interactive art from recycled electronics for the base.

These workshops led by Bill Kitchener will allow you to work on your own Mosaic as part of a group.

This art project will involve creating a small, decorative mosaic. You will have the chance to use glass and ceramic mosaic tiles to create your own design with guidance. All materials will be provided. This is for adults only.

There will be two stages to the project. A one day taster session will let you find out the techniques used and let you decide if you want to make a more ambitious project over six weeks. The sessions will last for two hours each.
